What this work is

Tax in Nepal is not only a compliance obligation. It is a cost that responds to how transactions are structured, how records are kept, and how positions are documented before a question is ever raised.

We advise on the tax consequences of business decisions, review positions taken in filed returns, and support businesses through assessment and dispute. Where a position is uncertain, we set out the risk plainly rather than presenting an aggressive reading as settled law.

We also handle the technical questions that sit next to tax: withholding treatment, cross-border payments, treaty considerations for foreign-owned entities, and the documentation that determines whether a position survives scrutiny.

You probably need this if

  • You have received an assessment or a query from the Inland Revenue Department.

  • A transaction is being structured and the tax treatment has not been considered.

  • Withholding tax on foreign payments is being applied without a clear basis.

  • You are unsure whether a deduction claimed in past returns would survive review.

  • A foreign parent company is charging fees or interest to a Nepali subsidiary.

Common questions

Can you represent us before the tax authority?
We prepare the technical position, the documentation and the response. Formal representation is arranged with an appropriately licensed professional where required.
Do you provide statutory audit?
No. Veritas does not carry out statutory audit engagements. Where an audit is required, we work alongside your appointed auditor and support the process from your side.
Is aggressive tax planning something you do?
No. We look for treatment that is correct and defensible. Where a position is uncertain, we tell you the risk rather than assuring you it is safe.
